Dr. Amina Wanjiku earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Nairobi and spent six years as a field veterinarian with the Kenya Veterinary Services, deployed across Kajiado, Laikipia, and Turkana counties. She has vaccinated more cattle than she can count — from Boran herds on the Laikipia plateau to Maasai zebu in the southern rangelands.
Her field work gave her a deep understanding of the diseases that kill the most cattle in Africa: East Coast Fever, Foot and Mouth Disease, Lumpy Skin Disease, and the tick-borne infections that devastate herds every rainy season. She has trained over 200 community animal health workers in disease recognition and first-response treatment.
